The Calling
And a Taurus's Stubborn Heart
This has become a thing; yet another experiment with random words. For today’s word SALAD, we have: telephone - Taurus - case - hypothalamus - condition - eyelash.
If you are feeling dangerous and mischievous, write your own in the comments:
The telephone rang and rang, as it frequently did, with its usual song, “A pair of bells hitting the bong,” filling the quiet, empty room. But she, having the insufferable condition of being a Taurus, refused to pick it up yet again. For her own good. To protect her heart, her body, her soul… and avoid getting those beautifully long eyelashes moist. There had been many cases when the dead called from beyond; she was well aware of it, having been a medium all her life. But this, she did not expect, so fast, so literal. Ghosts had figured out how to use technology! Her hypothalamus couldn’t process it, refused to accept it. Anxiety kicked in, followed by fear and irrational thoughts. She was shaky, trembling, indecisive, and defeated. Only her Tauran stubbornness prevented her from picking up that phone. For she knew that, on the other side of the line, her recently deceased husband awaited her voice one last time.
